Fabian Schrader (he/him) studies political science and linguistics at the University of Bremen and the Free University of Berlin. Parallel to his studies, he is completing training as a theatre educator (BuT) at the Otto Suhr Adult Education Centre in Neukölln. He organises various local and nationwide children's and youth participation formats in Berlin (including the Berliner jugendFORUM), develops biographical learning methods for the Anne Frank Centre and Gesicht zeigen! and conducts educational seminars for pupils and teachers in his home state of Saxony-Anhalt.
In 2017/2018, he co-directed the biographical theatre project ‘[AUF]BEGEHREN – A play between homosexual emancipation and personal love stories from the 1970s to the present day’ with queer people over the age of 50. From 2019 to 2023, he is a permanent theatre educator at the GRIPS Theatre. From 2023 to 2025, he is co-director of the participatory project ‘PROPS gehen raus’ (PROPS go out) by GRIPS Werke e.V., in which children are responsible for a complete professional theatre production at the GRIPS Theatre and, among other things, direct adult actors. Since 2025, he has been co-director of the participatory project ‘Kinderrechte to play’ (Children's Rights to Play) at GRIPS Werke e.V. and, since December 2025, he has been part of the theatre education department again.
As a theatre educator, he advocates for the implementation of children's rights and more self-determined decision-making freedom for children and young people. For him, theatre (acting) is a communal, social practice in which group experiences take precedence over artistic results.
