is a trained actor, screenwriter, lecturer, theatre and film director. He has directed productions at the Maxim Gorki Theatre, the state theatres in Nuremberg and Oldenburg, the theatres in Linz, Bremen, Oberhausen and the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus. His productions have won several awards, including the Austrian theatre prize STELLA, the Oberhausen theatre prize and the JugendStücke prize of the Heidelberg Stückemarkt.
The cinema scripts "Freier Fall" and "Fremde Tochter", which Karsten Dahlem wrote together with Stephan Lacant, were awarded various prizes. In 2016, Dahlem made his own debut as a film director: his film "Princess" was nominated for the Max Ophüls Prize and invited to several international festivals. In the meantime, he has more feature films in the works, e.g. "Coming Home" in cooperation with SWR.
